Chapter 4
The Lost Kingdom
GoGo looked at her reflection in Belly Pot’s jewel-handled mirror. Her beguiling smile told this
night’s deadly tale. She seemed to know that her orders to kill were carried out only moments ago
by her faithful servants.
Candlelight illuminated the immense royal bedchamber, gloriously appointed with finely
crafted furniture from across Africa. The large bed was draped with leopard skins dyed blood red
by berbere spice and lifted off the floor by four gilded pillars—replicas of the iconic temple
columns at Luxor. The queen stood before her young female attendant and though tired, she
opened her robe and allowed the nubile, doe-eyed woman to rub her body with cocoa butter.
Starting at GoGo’s neck, the attendant’s hands rubbed across her ample breasts following the
curves of her torso, down her thighs to her feet until the queen glistened in the flickering flames of
the candles. GoGo savored the young woman’s touch.
“Did you enjoy the Albaka, my queen?”
“Each year I enjoy it less . . . and look forward more to your gentle touch afterward,
Amie.”
“Thank you, Great One,” Amie replied. “May my touch always bring you pleasure.”
GoGo admired Amie’s lovely figure and pretty face. She touched her cheek.
“My cheek was once so smooth, though I was never as pretty as you,” GoGo said.
“Thou art too kind, my queen. My cheek is only worthy of admiration because thy hand
touches it.”
