“I wasn’t certain you had told your queen, so I remained silent.”

Sooth stood in disbelief that she would have recognized him as an adult.

“Do you speak Vampirian?” she said.

“Kai,” Sooth said and nodded.

“Tranoot, grem tasha mon eyem.”

Sooth turned to GoGo. “It is ritual. . . She wants me to translate her words.”

Sygnosis spoke directly to GoGo.

“Ana dant tumech j’zek neyan . . . deem Azulite vampiratu.”

“I am here to birth an Azulite vampire,” said Sooth.

“Yee meeth da’am kaseen vantim.”

“If that is what you still want.”

Daka and the men stood ready to strike, with their hands upon their swords, as the tense

moments passed.

“Yes,” GoGo said. “That is what I want.”

Sygnosis walked over to Omar’s dying body. She looked back at the men.

“Sit him up,” she said.

The men did not obey.

“Do as she says,” GoGo said.

The men walked over to Omar and carefully moved him into an upright position.

Sygnosis looked at GoGo. “Hold his head straight. He will have to suckle.”

She removed the black robe from her right shoulder and held her breast in position. She

took the cloth from the bowl and washed herself.

“Bring him up,” she said to GoGo.

GoGo gently moved Omar up to Sygnosis’ breast. Her thumbnail grew out long and sharp.

She pressed it into her breast, piercing it. Her azulin spilled out, ruby red and more transparent
