hails of celebration continued as if the very word was the herald of life . . . life to them all.
Unknown to them, from high above on a cave ledge, Sygnosis watched in silence.

As the days and weeks passed, Sooth was true to his word. He trained the prince to harness his
vampire powers through tests of skill and prowess. He conducted swordplay with a keen eye
toward the use of speed and strength to dispatch enemies with lethal efficiency and quickness.
Daka allowed himself to serve as a foil to Omar’s training. As their swords clashed in mock
combat, it became evident to all who observed that even the captain of the royal guard, considered
a formidable swordsman, was no match for the Azulite. Sooth, GoGo, and Sygnosis looked on.
GoGo smiled with pride as she watched her son master the deadly arts.
Zuba, Cane and Raki threw daggers at Omar as he stood against a cave wall. He caught
them with ease—by the blades.
“Good,” Sooth said as the warriors all looked on in amazement.
Sygnosis seemed especially fond of watching the human reactions to vampire supremacy.
Her delight did not escape the queen’s eye. In fact, watching Sygnosis smile only deepened
GoGo’s love for her.
“How I adore this creature,” GoGo thought.
The Darkling’s beauty and authority were bewitching. Such a spell had never been cast on
the queen and she relished the emotions that coursed through her during the days and ignited her
passions at night.
The next phase of Omar’s training moved to the desert. Daka and Sooth pulled their
bowstrings back as far as they could. Each fired an arrow into the wind. The Golden Leopard ran
